Wait a bit...there is a logical disconnect here.
Stages 2 and 3: "Precious metal - gold and silver coins". But it never explains how those can be deployed - and by stage 4, they are no longer mentioned at all. FIREARMS AND FOOD have become important. The secret is that they CANNOT BE USED IN AN AGRARIAN/BARTER SOCIETY.
Everyone who squanders the ability to acquire firearms and food and buys precious metal instead will be stuck at stage 3 and will never survive to stage 4.
