We don't HAVE to spend all of our time killing each other but we do and always have. I don't believe we can legislate away evil. I don't believe it's right that that the same people who want to ban firearms because someone killed 20 children voted to kill half a million children in Iraq, and did, and are killing 20 children a day remotely in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I don't understand how any sane person can say we can no longer take care of our own citizens when we are paying for nationalized insurance in Iraq and Afghanistan and Israel. But I clearly understand why the people who perpetuate these things want gun control instead of more responsible people. We are sheep and they shear us and send us back out to eat scrub grass. And I understand, but they don't, that when the President says there will be serious new gun laws the first day of the new congress, he immediately set off a huge feeding frenzy of gun sales and started an enormous black market of illegal firearms sales and manufacturing that makes the 'war on drugs' look like a Girl Scout cookie sale.
Now everyone who SHOULDN'T have a firearm has an unregistered one - or WILL have one by the time the laws are passed. Because criminals and crazies and religious fanatics don't care about laws. No one cared about the prohibition laws. No one cares about the drug laws. And now no one will care about the gun laws. They should be putting all the money they are spending on war and implements of war into our society. We should have excellent, and FREE education for everyone who actually wants it. We should provide health care for everyone who needs it. Anyone who makes $250 MILLION dollars a year and calls poor people 'leeches' because HE sent their jobs to China ought to be strung up.
There is still a tiny bit of beauty in the world. Reach for it. And speak softly but carry a big stick.
