There is no one in charge of the federal government. The President can't govern and congress is now completely corrupt. Nothing is really happening at all because everyone is waiting to see what is going to happen next. We cannot wait until 2012. Something is going to pop.
The stock market is fluctuating - not wildly at the moment, but several percent over a day or two for no real reason except that there is no one in charge of the federal government so no one knows what to expect except that the economy isn't going to get better.
There is nothing Ben Bernanke or Tim Geithner or Larry Summers or Barack Obama or Congress can do stabilize the economy or the nation. They are all saying it's getting better in the hope that saying it's so will make it so. It won't. It is no longer a matter of restoring consumer confidence. The consumers are still losing our homes and jobs. We don't have the money to pour back into the economy and kick-start it. Hoping that the numbers the government is putting out about the success of the recovery will begin to reflect reality is a fool's errand. There is no recovery.
The richest 1% of the country are controlling the government. That will work for awhile but not forever. If you have all the dollars and I have the food on my farm, I'm going to laugh at your suitcase full of gold coins.
I suspect that the states must take their sovereignty back since the federal government is gridlocked and has wasted the national treasury in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of spending it on We the People. All of the states are bankrupt because the federal government bankrupted them.
I am not at all certain the federal government can even continue to exist in it's present form. It is turning militant toward the citizenry. Our government is in the process of making us tax slaves to feed the military-industrial complex. The country is bankrupt because of politicians, not because of Social Security. But Social Security is going to suffer, not the rich people. Not at first.
It has taken me fifty years to come to that conclusion and I cannot really fathom that it has happened. I have never said it before. I have never even thought it before.
We are going to have a class war. It may begin because of the economy or because of the price of gasoline or because we are running out of water or because of religion. It may have already started but it hasn't flashed yet. I don't want to see my country go that way. I don't want to live in American Somalia. I don't know who to fight to stop it. I just know that I will have to fight someone. My fellow citizens. Because we gave our liberty to the government and they have turned us against ourselves.
