The People's Rights Amendment

I can get behind this.

Also, please take a look at this if you want to see a financial rant.

Check out the People’s Rights Amendment, chosen by more than 90% of respondents, and call your state officials.

Dear Friend -

A few weeks ago, we invited you to help write the U.S. Constitution, by voting for the version of our new Amendment you like best.

Now the votes are in.  People around the country have spoken up resoundingly in favor of this new version:

Section 1.  We the people who ordain and establish this Constitution intend the rights protected by this Constitution to be the rights of natural persons.

Section 2.  People, person, or persons as used in this Constitution does not include corporations, limited liability companies or other corporate entities established by the laws of any state, the United States, or any foreign state, and such corporate entities are subject to such regulation as the people, through their elected state and federal representatives, deem reasonable and are otherwise consistent with the powers of Congress and the States under this Constitution.

Section 3.  Nothing contained herein shall be construed to limit the people's rights of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, free exercise of religion, and such other rights of the people, which rights are inalienable.

This version was chosen overwhelmingly, by more than 92% of the thousands of people who participated in this historic vote.  People’s comments were great too:

   •    Toni in Minnesota said this version “is awesome.  It is clear and to the point.”
   •    Joseph & Madeleine in Idaho said:  “It is written so I can understand it.”
   •    Alan in Ann Arbor, MI wrote, “It clearly limits constitutional rights to natural persons, fixing
        the problem.”
   •    Judith in Tucson, AZ said this version “is crystal clear and I prefer it.”
   •    Bud in Grapevine, TX liked that it “explicitly says that corporations are not people.”
   •    Robert in Ridgecrest, CA said this one “tells it like it is.”

We’re thrilled that so many people feel so positively about this new language, and this response can only help advance our campaign further.

Best of all, this new People’s Rights Amendment is already catching on with policy-makers: Massachusetts State Representatives James Eldridge and Cory Atkins have just introduced a resolution there, calling for “a Constitutional Amendment to reverse Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and to restore Constitutional rights and fair elections to the people.”

This is the beginning of a movement that’s going to sweep the country, with your help.  Together we’ll contact other lawmakers in states from coast to coast, and urge them to help advance similar resolutions everywhere.

The one thing that will do more than anything else to get these lawmakers going is a request from you, a voter in their district.  When it comes down to it, your state lawmakers answer to you and your neighbors.  That’s why you can make such an incredible difference, with just a simple phone call.

Can you take just a minute right now to make a call or two?

Our calling tool makes it incredibly easy, and free, to call your state officials.

It’s a great way to make a difference, and propel this historic movement forward.

Thanks so much for joining us in this campaign.

Sincerely,

- Jeff and John
