Hawaii no longer has a Superferry, but...

A few of these could supply most of our needs. They could travel to and from the Left coast very economically in 35 hours - longer than the five hours it takes a 747, but much less than the ten days it takes for a ship to make the trip.  Or it could operate interisland and deliver anywhere without anyone complaining about it. True, a cargo capacity of 50 to 200 tons isn't huge -  but it's more than we have now.
