I wonder how long it will take before someone tells the public what Obama just accomplished. Even if the bill is awful as written, this is an interesting day. Almost everything Obama has tried to do has been stymied; but now certain things must happen. This is why:
We are not in Iraq or Afghanistan through the application of any law. We are there because Obama could not appear to be 'soft' on terror. But now there IS (or soon will be) a law which will require the use of those funds which have been flowing into holes in the desert and to unaccountable defense contractors and lobbyists and the people who insist we 'stay the course' long after we have finished the course.
Health care will be funded as soon as it is passed into law. Because of that and because We the People are demanding unequivocal change WE can believe in, things which were impossible in 2007 will be possible in 2010. Maybe more than we want; maybe less. Everything in life is a compromise.
Obama didn't nit-pick Health care reform because it had to pass. He scored much more than a health care bill. He scored the Presidency. He knows it and I know it.
So I say this:
To the millions of people who went to church today to pray that God wouldn't pass Obamacare....guess Who is pissing down your back?
