These people are not our friends.  I am not even sorry that I sound intolerant.  But I began reading and researching seriously many years ago after I read 'The Haj" by Leon Uris.  And now I know.  This is Christianity at the time of the Inquisition - when nothing was too horrible or radical if it spread the belief.  Now we know that was wrong.  Islam doesn't.
